Health & social care

Make personalised commissioning a reality

The provision of social care is shifting its focus from providing a list of services for users to select from, to allowing the end user to have free choice of all potential service providers. Similarly, the NHS is aiming to become more responsive to patients’ needs by devolving procurement decisions down to GP level and encouraging a broader choice of service providers.

Throughout the health and social care sector, therefore, a method of purchasing personalised care from a large number of potential providers is needed. SProc.Net provides that facility and much more besides.

The system allows for a clear definition of the needs of each individual end user (including such details as the type of service, the times requested, the desired outcomes etc.) and then uses 5 different quality metrics to present the best quality offers along with indicative prices. Full visibility of the services being offered and their associated costs are available to allow a well-informed decision to be made, putting the end user in control of their own service provision.

SProc.Net is designed to facilitate modern methods of care provision, incorporating features to enable recent developments such as payments from individual Personal Budgets as well as by Direct Payments from a council. By optimising the personalised commissioning process, SProc.Net drives the quality of care provision up while, thanks to the increased number of potential suppliers, drives your costs down.

Free audit reveals £8M savings

A CLUSTER of Primary Care Trusts has been shown it has the potential to make savings of around £8M a year.

One of the five trusts which makes up the cluster took up Matrix SCM’s offer to stage a discovery audit which examined its £5M annual spend on continuing health care.

The audit showed that the Trust could save 10% of the £5M direct cost of continuing health care provision and a further £228K a year on process efficiencies. Across the cluster, which spends £80M a year on continuing health care, savings could be £8M.

Matrix SCM at the heart of social care

A SOCIAL care solution which Matrix SCM delivered for Coventry City Council is an award-winner.

Matrix SCM created, developed and implemented the solution which allows end-users greater choice and control over their social care support and gives Coventry City Council greater efficiencies and cost savings through better use of its existing framework contracts. In addition, the Council has seen a significant decrease in spot purchasing of care requirements since the implementation of SProc.Net.

And the success of the system earned the partners a National Great British Home Care Award for Innovation in 2011.
